Scroll your feed and notice how much of it came from someone you chose to follow. Most of it didn’t. It was picked for you, and it was picked because it keeps you scrolling. Our feeds have become tabloids. Full of rage-bait, sensationalism, paid sponsorships and other forms of easy dopamine. It’s the adult equivalent of jingling keys in front of a baby. Even worse, it literally never ends.

Not for You removes everything you didn’t ask for: the suggested accounts, the promoted posts, the “people you may know.” Instead, you only see what you chose to follow, in the order it was posted. And you can actually get to the end of it.

I’ve been using it for a while and I feel like my brain is eating healthier. I spend far less time on social media, still feel caught up, and don’t struggle with FOMO.

How does it work?

Every platform already has a chronological feed. The extension sends you to it, then hides the promoted and suggested content around it. Nothing is injected or rewritten.

Will I miss posts from people I follow?

The opposite. The “For You” feed shows a fraction of what the people you follow actually post, and fills the gap with whatever keeps you scrolling. Removing the suggested content lets you be intentional about what you consume.

How is this different from a feed blocker?

Blockers treat the feed as the problem: they blank it, cover it with a quote, or make you wait it out. That lasts until you actually want to use the site. The premise here is that the feed isn’t the problem, the algorithm is.

What if I want the algorithm back?

You only opt into the changes you want: every switch in the menu works per site, instantly. There is also a “Disable for 5 minutes” button for the times you want to fall down the rabbit hole on purpose.

Will it break anything?

No. Search, profiles, messages and posting work exactly as before. If a redesign does break something, I’ll ship a fix. If you spot it first, please file an issue.

Does it send my data anywhere?

There is nowhere to send it. No accounts, no servers, no analytics, and the extension makes no network requests of its own. More on privacy.

Does it work on my phone?

No. It works in desktop browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc, anything built on Chromium. Mobile devices are closed platforms and don’t allow extensions.

Does it block ads?

Not really. It hides the promoted posts baked into the feeds it cleans, but it’s not an ad blocker. uBlock Origin Lite and AdGuard have that covered.
